Karaoke: Good or Evil

  1. Karaoke in the form of Rock Band gets a huge double thumbs up. I'll tell you, DJ's hubby does a great Rage Against The Machine!

  2. Karaoke is like a loaded gun, in that it is only as evil as the nearsighted commie psychopath that doesn't know how to wield it correctly

  3. I do love me some Rock Band, but the other night when it was done by kids it was a little sad.

A few years ago at a company Christmas party, one guy from my husbands department participated in the karaoke. He did a great job and was a lot of fun to watch, but I wonder if he offended the older employees. So I'm not sure how it goes in mixed company.

  4. I was rereading my post in email and I realized I need to clarify.

The other night kids were doing karaoke (not Rock Band) at the park and it was sad. They were on a huge stage and they were very nervous (I shouldn't complain, I'm not brave enough to do it ever, let alone on a stage).

I love watching kids do Rock Band, it cracks me up.

So, in other words, I'm not sure how I feel about it. There is a time and a place for it. :)

By the way Linda, way to post in even in the final leg of Pony Express Days. :)

  5. Congrats to Linda for posting at all. And as far as karaoke goes I don't think I have ever heard anyone sound good at Karaoke. There is a reason that the Japanese drink Saki when they karaoke. For a sober crowd it is like having your tooth pulled out...through your ear.

  6. It's my shortest post to date because of PED, but was inspired by witnessing the karaoke in the park. I've decided it's enjoyable in small doses. My limit is about 15 minutes.

Also, I'd much rather watch someone who sings poorly but has good energy than someone who sings decently but stands there staring at the monitor like a statue.

  7. Amen on the energy. If they are dead stock boring I don't care how good they sound.
