What has Debbie gotten me into now?

So You Think You Can Dance, that's what. One more obsession to take up the time I don't have.
Still its a great season and these two, Lauren and Kent are just awesome on so many levels.

They make great characters. Am I the only one who does that? When I meet someone or see a show or get cut off in traffic, I immediately start a character sketch in my head. It's not the same as judging people because I know that most of what I decide about the character is not going to be true of the person, but still I can't help myself. I start to think about who this person or that person might someday be in my writing.

I guess I sort of play a "So you think you can write" game in my head. It's a lot like the show about dancing, except there is less dancing and more daydreaming.

Who have you turned into a character lately?

  1. I've watched that show a couple of times. Couldn't get past that judge who is constantly screaming. Wanted to smack her. Hard.

As far as characters go, I agree, there are many all around us. I love to people-watch and think of the possibilities.

  2. Never watched it, but I've heard it's a great show. In answer to your question, yes and no. I don't do that all of the time, just some of the time. And probably not to the degree that you do it. :)

  3. I did that yesterday. We were hiking on this trail, with our tiny dog (who is an awesome hiker I might add). All of a sudden these two HUGE dogs come running up and they meet my dog and run up to my kids, with no owners in sight. I was ticked. I don't mind dogs off leash on trails, that's half the fun of hiking with your dogs. But you have to see them. Both these dogs had the extra control collars on them (which means they don't do well on leash--the first sign of a well mannered dog). When the owners finaly showed up I said "leashes are nice" and walked away. I was so mad.

I started doing character sketches on these two owners. It wasn't pretty.
