The Starter Not the Finisher

(I thought I'd add a pic of me when I post, so you know who's talking--I wouldn't want anyone else saddled with my ideas or insanity.)

I am a great starter.  I am superb at creating a setting and defining characters.  I suck my readers in with promises of great adventure and excitiment.  People are dying to read the rest . . .

But I never deliver.

In January I am going to revisit all those fabulous starts.  I am going to reread everything that I've written (well, maybe not everything) and see if any of it strikes my fancy.

So, for 2011, I want to finish something.  I want to write regularly, even if its just  10 minutes writing a journal entry.

What nasty habit are you overcoming this year?  Is 2011 the year you get a contract?  Or is it the year you fight a grizzly bear and polar bear?

  1. Am I all alone? Is no one going to fight a grizzly this year?

  2. I fight a grizzly bear every once in a while. Usually in the mornings after a long night. But then the grizzly goes to work and all is right :)

  3. Haha! I love the picture, DJ!

You all know that I'm in the same boat as DJ (without the great ideas and character development). So I'm going to finish something this year even if its terrible and not actually worthy of wasting anyone else's time. That's the goal. :)

  4. I'm going to work on a lot of things this year. From writing to housekeeping to being a better friend. Got lots of abstract goals. We'll see if I'm a better person at the end of it all.

  5. Many goals, the top one being like you, just to finish a writing project. I'm trying to be realistic, doing a little each day. It will happen in 2011.
